Manilla Folder Vintage Pockets

These were made in a class I recently attended here in Nelson (NZ), run by a local lady Suzanne Van De Geest.  We upcycled manilla folders.  Quite a cool idea.  I like the colour palatte and the design could be adapted for the guys in our lives.

I love the tag feature with the teeny tiny chipboard key.  Managed to source a pack of them (Dusty Attic).  yah.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas folks.  We were in Christchurch and were a little unnerved by the aftershocks.  Not used to the quakes that they are experiencing down there.  Now we're back home and there's flood/slip warnings for some parts of our city/area.  Our poor little country is having a bit of a rough time.

Teacher gifts

Got organised this year and made these little gift pockets for the boys' preschool and kindy teachers.

The pocket die is an awesome newish one from Papertrey Ink.  It was a bit of a fiddle getting it through my cuttlebug in the beginning but we got there in the end.  They are all unique.  2 pockets have been machine stitched together to make the bag.  I used pps from my stash (mostly) - that feels good. LOL.

In each bag were post-it note holders, embellished with PTI stamps, a pen and a bookmark decorated by the boys.

Hope this finds you relaxed and organised.
Blessings. S.

A little piece of Christmas

I was inspired by a 7 gypsies post for my wrapping this year.  Love the simplicity of the brown paper, doilies and baker's twine.

 Most of my tags have PTI stamps and die cut images.  {love}

Decorated spools were inspired by Collections Elements.  The medium spools are Maya Road, purchased from Scrap Box NZ.

Last of all a little angel ornament, inspired by Melissa Phillips for Paper Trey Ink.

Have a Merry Christmas friends...may or may not make it back as it is the silly season after all.  {hugs}. xoxo  Sally.

Reach for the Sky

First up above is a kiddie card...  The stamp set (containing the balloon basket) is from Stampin' Up and is designed for treat cups.  I think it works well with a circle punch though.  A bit of misting for the background.

Next up- my wee men in a sweet embrace.  This is a rarity.  LOVE the 'random' range from Crate paper.  It really is a bit on the random side LOL.

I think that the fussy cutting around the butterflies made a nice feature for the bottom trim.

A Couple of Layouts

First up is a layout I completed a while back.  It was a Tarisota Style Studio one from '10 by Rachel Tucker (LOVE her work- blog link on right RTscraps).  From memory I adapted it to suit the materials I had.  The pic is from when I took Ol to Welly to stay with my brother.

Below was a bonus layout that Lyn Jordan inspired using the Echo Park range we had left from our 5 layout workshop.  THE END OF THE WORLD was when James used to have his face wiped or sometimes when he was getting dressed.  Now it's when he's getting his hair cut at the hairdressers which is STRESSFUL to say the least.

Bye for now.  S.

Whimsical....

As soon as I laid eyes on this wee mushroom boy I just fell in love!  Ummed and aghhed for a while and then picked it up when Scottie Crafts had a sale. I used Holtz distress ink (Weathered Wood) to stamp him.

How's the weekend crafting going?  What project(s) are you working on?  Hugs.  S.

Quick Card Batch

Inspired by Michelle Wooderson's (Mish Mash) post http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/2011/10/mish-mas-mondayjordy-is-awesome-card.html
I whipped up this batch of butterfly cards.  I already had the Kraft backgrounds stamped and misted, along with the die cut and fussy cut butterflies.  This made the process quick and easy.

Things have been crazy busy and no doubt will get even busier in the lead up till Christmas.  Have lots of plans for Christmas cards, tags, gift bags, Christmas decorations, birthday invites, loot bags, and of course layouts for Scrap Box NZ.  If only I had more time.  LOL.

Hugs,  Sally.  :)

Lost

I made a set of 6 gift tags, stuffed into a shabby stitched handmade vintage pocket.  This was a pressie for my SIL but unfortunately it never made it to her.  Thinking it was probably stolen out of their letter box.  Gutted.  Pretty stink that you can't rely on mail getting to it's destination these days.  At least I have some pics.

His dimples..

My new layout created for Scrap Box NZ. Full product details and close up pics can be seen over there http://www.scrapboxnz.blogspot.com/ Cosmo's Odds and Ends- fun!

What is it with dimples making people all mushy and gooey? (Mamas included!)

Part Two

Here are the other 3 layouts from the workshop I attended at Lyn Jordan's the other weekend.

I have misted quite a bit on layouts before, but Lyn has definitely inspired me to combine stamping as well.

Fussy cutting is quite therapeutic in small doses.

The little peeps below are children from our antenatal group, at around 18 months of age. Time flies- they are all almost ready to start school. Wow that's hard to believe.

For the Record

Here are 3 out of 6 layouts that we did in Lyn Jordan's class the other weekend. The paper range is 'Echo Park's For the Record'. Check out Lyn's blog 'The Scrapbook Store'- link on right.

Was great to attend a class- a whole day scrapping, what a treat. Didn't get the 6 finished in a day- but a week's not bad for me! Good to have learnt a few new techniques and the concept of making a set of layouts using the same range is cool. Might give it a go again. Crate paper's RANDOM is sitting on my craft table calling me. Will have to wait for another day cos the sunny day beckons and the boys and I are going out on an adventure.

Got cake?

I have a thing for cupcakes. They are just so lovely and open to being embellished with pretty pink sparklyness. I must have about 3 recipe books devoted to them- not that I bake them that often?! Fun to look and dream tho LOL

So I bit the bullet and bought the 3D cupcake template from Scottie Crafts in their last sale. This is my first (and only!) completed one- part of a friend's birthday gift. The box does open up and can be used for storing little treasures. {heart} the little tag to match.

Blue

To make a change from scrapping on white, cream or kraft! I was inspired by a layout in a CK mag.

'Take Two' because we went down the road of chronic ear infections and grommets with our older boy too.

The blue felt (layered) flower was made by my friend Iemke.

Attended a cool day's workshop on Saturday run by the very talented Lyn Jordan (of 'The Scrapbook Store, link on right). Didn't get through half of the '6 layouts in a day' but was inspiring and neat to spend a whole day out scrapping! Thanks Lyn.

Mud!! Challenge Me Happy.

This time the challenge was a 'recipe'. 1 cardstock, 2 pics, 3 alphas, 4 pps, 5 buttons and 6 staples. Gave it a whirl as I have never following a scrapping recipe. Fun. Better wake Mr 2 as he is still napping and make quiche for tea. xoS.

Scrap Box NZ

Edit: Jumping animal in the window was one of our fur children (a Burmese cat) called Nala. Not a hanging koala haha. NB in NZ we don't have koalas LOL

Here's a layout I did for Fiona over at Scrap Box. I got creative with the Teresa Collins Sports Edition papers. I have a few T C papers but I must say that using her papers does not come easy to me. How ever I got creative and used the safe side of 2/3 of the papers (i.e. to adapt to a not so 'sporty' page). Am quite happy with the result. Happy weekend peeps. Looks like a wet one. Might have to leave the Tahuna Trains till another day. xo

Give

First up a card that I made for one of Ol's preschool teachers who was leaving. A bit different in style to what I normally make. A different colour scheme I think. Anyway, hope she liked it!
...and a wee gift sack. Just realised missing a pearl (LOL). Will have to add another one.

Layouts to come soon I promise! Thanks for stopping by. S.
